MEMORIAL FOR TURKISH MARTYRIES AND TERRITORIAL PLANNING PROJECT, BAKU-AZERBAIJAN 1999

The Project is the Design and Construction of The Memorial for the Turkish Martyries in Baku. The Memorial for 1130 Turkish Officers and Soldiers who martyred in Azrbaijan in 1918, tendered by Military Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Baku. The Project prepared by UTM (designed by Arch.Hüseyin Bütüner and Arch. Hilmi Güner) and awarded with first prize in the competition organized by the Customer.

The Memorial is a hexagonal block cladded by red granite and at each face, a pure white marble crescent-star from National Flag had fitted within. The main access for protocol during the ceramonies had cladded by andesite tiles supplied from Ankara, Turkey. In addition, the neighbouring vicinity and wall is covered by local Gulbakh stone.The Memorial is opened by the Turkish President Süleyman Demirel and Azerbaijanian President Haydar Aliyev with a prestigious ceremony in Septembre 1999.
